A Scholars Forum for 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students from the Greater Kansas City area (Kansas and Missouri)

Purpose: “Strategically navigating high school toward successful outcomes, financing higher education and obtaining scholarships for college or vocational training certification”

Four facilitators from the community will navigate the audience in an interactive approach involving the following topics:

1. Characteristics of an ideal post graduate high school student who wants to pursue college, vocational training or the work force. – Strategic, effective tasks and habits to develop each year of high school, saving for post graduate expenses, making sound decisions

2. The importance of application completion, essays, and the power of the written word - examples, important elements and allowing the audience to “give it a try”

3. Through the observation of a high school administrator – the importance of a student’s high school record, decorum, determination, details not to overlook from beginning to the end of high school.

4. From a high school administrator, formerly a high school counselor – resources of a counselor and his or her importance, seeking guidance, assistance, information regarding financing post graduate goals
